Parent’s Questions
Below are questions people have asked us about the Montessori system of education, and the Ladybird Montessori School.
Q. Is Ladybird too organised - too structured - for my little child?
A. No. We believe learning should be fun. We encourage the children to work freely, and use their individuality at their own pace. The Montessori materials are colourful, attractive and simulating to the child. The open environment of the school setup also encourages the child’s interest.
Q. Which areas of London do the children come from?
A. Mostly East Finchley, Hampstead Garden Suburb, Muswell Hill, Crouch End, Mill Hill and Highgate itself.
Q. Do you prepare the children for entry-assessment for future schools?
A. Absolutely! We can assure you within a period of two years the child will be prepared to move on. As you will see from the letters’ page, many parents write to us to say how well they have done.
Q. What schools do the children move on to after Ladybird?
A. The Channing School in Highgate N6 5HS, The North London Collegiate at Canons, Edgware HA8 7R6, St. Christopher’s, Belsize Lne, NW3, South Hamstead, in Maresfield Gardens NW3, Highgate Boy’s School, Highgate Village, N6 and The Hall in Buckland Crescent, Hampstead, NW3.
Q. Do you have an outside play area for the children?
A. Yes, we have a secluded, safe garden for outside activities throughout the year, (weather permitting). There are organised games as well as nature and environmental studies.
